I'd been using a #3 Scharff 3000, but recently switched back to the good ol' Series 7 #1. I'll try out the Raphael 8404 #2, and see how it feels. I love the fluidity of your line. So loose, varied and quick. Very inspiring. Looking at this blog made me inspired while blasting through inks last night on some very otherwise very boring pages. Thanks.Brian Churillahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02246198921809206339noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19553225.post-45962658797057777912009-04-21T12:19:00.000-04:002009-04-21T12:19:00.000-04:00thanks, larry.
hi brian,
i covered most of that ...thanks, larry.

hi brian,

i covered most of that a few months ago in my "how to make a monroe" post.

http://bigbugillustration.blogspot.com/2008/08/how-to-make-monroe.html

the exception being that i've gone up a brush size (too much chocolate) and am using a #3 raphael 8404 now (with pelikan drawing ink A). still using a mix of pitt and staedler felt tip pens for the fiddly bits. that's if you're asking about b/w inks.

if you're curious about the colour stuff, there is a painting post brewing. i just don't have time to track down all the files right now. simply put, though, i paint everything with the same daler rowney watercolour set (about 20? cakes in a tin) and tubes of gouache (again daler rowney). as for brushes i just use an assortment
of brushes from the graveyard of past their prime inking brushes in a drawer beside my desk. i've found that quality of brush makes virtually no difference when painting.

that may just be me, though. i'm a wee bit tough on my brushes...

that help?tomfowlerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08712021416453838869noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-19553225.post-89019927264288789212009-04-21T05:16:00.000-04:002009-04-21T05:16:00.000-04:00Hi Tom,
