interview the second
hey kids. monroe interview number two is up at newsarama.
it's been kind of a crappy week, so why not swing by and say something nice.
my ego is just that fragile...

monroe and tom feister ...?
my interview with the pulse is up.
though, i'm not entirely sure who tom feister is...
here're some other panels from my first instalment that's on sale now...
(why haven't you bought it yet?)
tom feister...
he's probably not even tall...
FEISTERGATE UPDATE: tom feister is 5'11".
"the Thomas Feister Affair" UPDATE: HOORAY! i'm me again! ...but earth-2 is dead.

mystery project #1= MAD!!!
...or monroe to be more precise.
that's right four pages a month in MAD magazine from now (meaning today, so go out and buy it, you bastards!!!) til the day i show up at their offices naked and dripping with honey (which they frown on). i'll spare you the dream-come-truery, and just say that i am very, very happy.
see, i can be happy sometimes...
not often, but sometimes...

super-type-hero stuff...
some pages from the (not so) recently completed JLU #29 that i inked.
it was a lot of fun...
nutty koo-koo fun...
that's b'wana beast fun, baby...
soooooo.... i had some requests for a (san diego) con report from some people. well...
it was good. really good. monique survived, i picked up a poop-load of work (more stuff i'm not allowed to talk about).
best moment: monique tracking down and publicly blasting a deadbeat former publisher (again, gotta love that woman)...
worst moment: losing my glasses in the pacific. appearantly poseidon was feeling a little squinty and looking for a sacrifice...
stupid poseidon.

san diego....
...here we come, right back where we started from...
and so on.
all packed up and ready to go. i'm abso-fudding-lutely exhausted from banging out my first instalment of mystery project #1 (see below). still, i'm very happy with how it turned out. no official announcements, though, until at least the end of august.
i have a table in artist's alley again this year, last i heard it was table JJ-11. i think that's in the far corner up against a wall. you'll find it.
oh, and for the first time ever my wife is coming with me. may god have mercy on her soul.
here's a picture of a dragon...

pulse interview....
here...
although, i could have done without the "unemployed artist" tag. i guess it doesn't pay to be facetious in typed interviews. good interview though.
it's been a bad bad week. i'll be back with something happy to report when i'm capable of being happy again.
be nice to eachother...

best con sketch everrrrrrrr...
well, from me anyway....
monique suggested i throw something up, lest i incure the wrath of my army of faithful fans.
it's been kind of a hectic month, fettered with various deadlines, health issues, and other headaches. so please forgive my absence. i'm sure it's been a real nail biter for all six of you. i'll be throwing some new stuff up soon. promise.
just to end, i wanted to send out a very sincere get well soon to matthew clark, who had a pretty scary "cardiac event" over the weekend. while i can't claim to be much more than con-buddies with matt, he's one of sweetest guys i've met in the industry, and i just wanted to give him and his family my best.
i promise i'll get back to the sarcastic sniping in my next post...

pigeons and cake...
so, a good friend of mine, quebecois storyteller eric gauthier, emailed me the other to say that his book of stories "terre des pigeons" (illustrated by moi) had inspired an entry at the international edible
book festival's first ever montreal event.
how fudding cool is that?! to be imortalised in pastry. take that world!!! who's got the cake now!!!!!!
eric sent some pictures...
that's eric at the bottom looking french.
he also wrote about the event here. warning it's written in frenchy talk.

more portfolio...
my wife told me to put some more stuff up...
this was for a local small press book fair. i'm always looking for the slimmest excuse to draw monkeys...
this is actually a pretty funny found image from a friend of mine, who caught her (much unliked) upstairs neighbour doing this. a good indication of the current state of the "new age", i thought...
this one could go in a few different directions. it's either about the state of urban decay, or a modern loss of innocence, or even the rise of asian gangs...
mostly though, it's about my fundamental distrust of pandas...

howdy... (pt. 2)
with the newsarama interview (thanks, chris... i can't figure out links in this thing, so if you want to read me going on and on and on and on, go find it yourself) has come a certain amount of extra traffic and (i hope not) some confusion. given that this is a bit of a young blog, the page has split itself up kind of funny. so if you're new here, please make sure you click on the december archive to see everything.
that's about it.
oh... and please, as always, no penis cream.
thanks.
here's some monkeys...
